Nora is designed around a simple rule: treatment decisions come from the care team, calculations come from testable software, and important records are confirmed by a caregiver.

Safety depends less on a single warning and more on preventing responsibilities from becoming blurred.
Care team
Defines the prescribed diet plan, transition instructions, monitoring expectations, and medical guidance.
Calculation engine
Performs nutrition normalization, ratio math, scaling, partial-consumption calculations, and tolerance checks.
Caregiver
Reviews sources, confirms quantities, accepts proposed records, and decides what information should be saved.
History
Preserves the exact plan, food, recipe, quantities, and calculation version used at the time.
Assistant
Interprets language, retrieves information, and creates suggestions—but does not prescribe or authorize changes.
The authoritative math does not come from a language model.
Nora’s nutrition engine is isolated from the AI provider and user interface so calculations can be tested, versioned, and reproduced.
Explicit calculation method
The active plan states whether the ratio uses total carbohydrates, net carbohydrates, or another supported clinician-defined method.
Normalized quantities and decimal precision
Foods are converted to supported weight bases with precise decimal arithmetic. Nora does not invent density conversions.
Saved calculation snapshots
Planned and consumed results remain tied to the engine version and inputs used when the record was created.
The assistant can make a proposal. It cannot make a treatment decision.
Optional AI features are restricted to language interpretation, retrieval, suggestions, and summaries. Structured validation and caregiver confirmation sit between the AI and the database.

Nora distinguishes informational messages, caregiver-review requirements, and care-plan escalation instructions without presenting every difference as an emergency.
Informational
A value is slightly different from the target or a meal contains an unverified ingredient. The caregiver can review the detail and continue when appropriate.
Confirmation required
The consumed meal differs substantially from the plan, the quantity is estimated, or the selected product has not been verified.
Follow the saved care plan
A measurement or observation matches a threshold entered from the care team. Nora presents the saved instruction rather than inventing a response.
Blocked action
The application cannot calculate an authoritative result because required information is missing, invalid, or unsupported.
Important records should remain understandable months later.
Nora preserves what changed, who confirmed it, and which data versions were used. Corrections are recorded rather than silently replacing the original history.

Does Nora decide the correct ketogenic ratio?
No. The target ratio, calculation method, transition instructions, and other treatment settings must come from the child’s qualified care team.
Does a saved recipe mean it is medically approved?
No. Saving a recipe means it is available to the household. Nora can show whether it matches configured targets, but clinical approval remains outside the application.
Can Nora determine exact intake from a photograph?
No. Images may assist with label entry or documentation, but exact ingredient or consumption amounts require caregiver-confirmed quantities.
Are assistant summaries medical conclusions?
No. Optional summaries may identify patterns in entered records, but they are labeled as observations and do not establish diagnosis, causation, or treatment guidance.
